Always Removes Female Symbol from Tampon Packaging to Please Trans Lobby

Always, the tampon manufacturers, have removed the female symbol from their packaging in order to please the transgender lobby.

The female symbol, consists of a circle with a cross attached at the bottom. It started life as the astrological symbol for the planet Venus, named after the Roman goddess, before being adapted as the symbol for women.

Ben Saunders, a “trans-man” who was named Young Campaigner of the Year by the LGBT charity Stonewall for a film he made about being transgender, contacted Always in June and asked them to remove the female symbol from their tampon packaging. Another trans activist known as “Melly Boom,” who has since deleted their Twitter account, made the same request in July. “Could someone from Always tell me why it is imperative to have the female symbol on their sanitary products,” Melly said in a tweet. “There are non-binary and trans folks who still need to use your products too you know!”

Last week, Saunders tweeted that he had received an email from Always confirming that they had “listened” to him and their marketing team had “worked a solution”:

We are absolutely grateful for having people like you voicing their opinions. Thank you for contacting us, your comments help us improve every day!

Julie Bindel, the radical feminist who has been critical of transgenderism, told the Mail on Sunday that the removal of the female symbol was an act of “pure cowardice”:

Removing the female symbol from sanitary towel packaging is basically denying the existence of women. We’re now moving towards the total elimination of women’s biology. The women’s symbol has been used by feminists for decades. This is pure cowardice and virtue signalling from these big corporate brands who are capitulating to the trans agenda.

A spokesman for Proctor and Gamble, the parent company of Always, defended the decision in a statement:

For over 35 years Always has championed girls and women, and we will continue to do so. ‘We’re also committed to diversity and inclusion, and after hearing from many people across genders and age groups, we realised that not everyone who has a period and needs to use a pad identifies as female. To ensure that anyone who needs to use a period product feels comfortable in doing so with Always, we updated our pad wrapper design. Our mission remains to ensure no girl loses confidence at puberty because of her gender or period and we do this through our puberty education programs, by providing access to period products with programs such as #EndPeriodPoverty, and by using our brand voice to tackle societal barriers and stigmas like we did with #LikeAGirl.
