Days after the damning release of thousands of of Anthony Fauci’s emails, Biden White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said the administration is doubling down on their position on the decades long government employee, and will never fire him.

Asked about the Biden administration’s stance on Fauci since the release of his emails, Psaki launched into an stuttering response. “I’ve talked a little bit about Dr. Fauci and Dr. Fauci has been out doing several interviews himself and answering several questions on these emails and questions that you all may have.” Psaki proceeded to defend Fauci and his lifelong career as a government employee. “Dr. Fauci is a renowned public servant, civil servant I should say, career civil servant. He’s overseen management of multiple global health crises, and attacks launched on him are certainly something we wouldn’t stand by. I understand there’s interest in the emails, he’s answered a lot of questions on the emails, I don’t think I’m going to have much more to add on them from here.”

When Fox News’ Peter Doocey asked Psaki if she believes the interest in his emails in political, she demurred, and insisted that Fauci would respond to questions about his emails directly, without involving her office. “I’m going to let Dr. Fauci speak to his own defense of these emails from 17 months ago before this president even took office.”

Psaki then dodged a question about Fauci’s role in “gain of function” research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology by asserting that the Biden administration has not approved any such research. “We have not, as Dr. Fauci has actually said repeatedly, we have never approved any funding for ‘gain of function’ research in Wuhan.” Doocey then asked, “Can you imagine any circumstance where President Biden would ever fire him?” Psaki quickly responded, “No.”
