A tweet advertising a drag story hour for children under 5 appeared on Twitter, drawing much backlash from social media users, as the trend goes overseas.

Drag Queen Story Time has drawn much controversy in America, leading to protests led by parents and scandals involving prior convictions held by some of the performers.

Now, the Newham council from London has posted a tweet on their Twitter page colorfully illustrating the upcoming event with photos from a previous story time.

They wrote: “The first of our Drag Queen Story Times for under 5s & their parents & carers at @NewhamLibraries this #LGBTHM20 is on Friday. Come & listen to fabulous stories, beautifully told. Canning Town Library, 7 Feb, 10.30-11.30am”

On the Newham LGBT history website linked in the tweet, the event is described as “providing spaces in which kids are able to see people who defy rigid gender restrictions, Drag Queen Story Time allows children to imagine the world in which people can present as they wish. Where dress up is real.”

Drag Queen Story Times have been advertised across other London venues, targeting very young children.

One advertised for Canada Water Theatre tweeted: “Looking for something to do this February Half Term? Come along to our first family show of the season – Drag Queen Story Time is a fun, inclusive storytelling session for ages 3+, coming to us 21 Feb. Tickets FREE to book.”

Another from South Lambeth, displaying a drag queen with full beard in the picture, said: “Drag Queen Storytime is back for LGBT+ History Month, and we’re really excited to have @mstimberlina  (thanks to @thervt!) bring her irreverance to storytime on Saturday 15th Feb 11am.”

Three Queen Story Times were also scheduled at the British Library on their Young Rebels family day.

The original tweet from Newham drew ample negative criticism from commenters.

One said: “Please keep doing this. These kids will grow to become the most reliable right wing/family oriented voting bloc since 1940. They may very well become Britain’s saving grace.”

Another remarked: “What kind of sane adult takes their kids to this?”

As pointed out by Summit, Newham–a London Borough hosting a Drag Queen Story Time–has a large Muslim population.

Sweden was recently found to be funneling funds of deceased citizens without an heir towards drag queen reading events targeting migrant children.

Sweden’s soft judicial system has gained plenty of notoriety in recent years for punishing spikes in an array of crimes.

Now, it has been revealed that a Swedish State Agency will be diverting funds from dead citizens to drag shows in order to promote, “LGBT issues, diversity, and equality.”

The Swedish Inheritance Fund, which manages the money of those who have died with no apparent heirs, has decided to allot some funds–1,710,500 Swedish Krona or $177,774–to  to the MUMS Cultural Association in Stockholm to “develop available normative creative fairy tales in the form of feature shows,” according to Breitbart News.

Yesterday, National File reported on a Muslim father facing 3 months in prison and a large fine for preventing his nine-year-old son from going to school to avoid pro-LGBT classes which had become part of the curriculum.
