Portland Truck Driver Assault Victim Says He Was Attacked for Being ‘White’

The man who was knocked unconscious in a brutal beating during a night of riots in Portland after crashing his truck believes that he may have been singled out because of his race.

Adam Haner suffered multiple bruises, three broken ribs, and two black eyes after being knocked unconscious in a vicious and cowardly assault by Black Lives Matter rioters after he was forced into crashing his truck into a light pole after attempting to flee the violent mob.

Haner had come to the defense of a transgender woman who was in the middle of being robbed by the mob–causing them to focus their attention on the have-a-go hero and his girlfriend.

“I just seen something going on there, and I tried to get in the middle of it — and it just directed the fire towards me,” he said. “Their whole chaos came right at me.”

His primary assailant Marquise Love, 25, has a lengthy rap sheet and is wanted by law enforcement for the beating that was caught on camera and went viral on social media.

“I wasn’t trying to do anything but get a drink,” Haner told KATU as scuffles began outside of a 711 in an attack which doctors fear may leave Haner with long-term vision problems.

“I wasn’t the enemy, I’ll tell you that. I was just the guy standing there, and I was white, evidently,” Haner added, recalling the incident.

Haner then went onto reveal that he had marched in favor of BLM due to past unfavorable interactions with the police.

“I was for that. I’ve had cops beat me up before. I was for their cause,” he told WKBN.

Haner wishes no ill-will on anybody as he faces a lengthy road to recovery. His story went viral on the internet and his GoFundMe crowdfund has amassed over $100,000 in an effort to help replace the items stolen from his truck during the beating and to cover medical expenses incurred by the attack.
