Virginia Democrats Now Plan to Issue Driver’s Licenses to Illegal Immigrants

Democrats in Virginia’s legislature are hoping to join 13 other states and the District of Columbia in “removing the citizenship and legal presence requirements for obtaining a driver’s license” in the Commonwealth.

The bills, known as HB 1211 in the House and SB 643 in the Senate, are sponsored by Kathy Tran and Jennifer Boysko respectively, both Northern Virginia Democrats.

Boysko, of the 33rd Senate District, was the chief patron of a similar House bill in 2019, which died in committee. She calls herself a “long time grassroots activist for immigrants,” and made advocating for Virginia’s growing illegal alien population a central theme of her 2019 campaign for State Senate.

Additionally, Boysko has previously sponsored legislation that would add immigration status to hate crime categories and is currently sponsoring the Senate version of a bill aiming to provide in-state tuition to illegal aliens.

Tran, of the 42nd House District, made national headlines during last year’s legislative session while sponsoring a bill that would legalize late-term and partial-birth abortion and, according to Governor Ralph Northam, the murder of newborn babies.

The bill, known as the “Repeal Act,” also sought to greatly reduce the medical requirements for receiving a 3rd-trimester abortion, lowering the threshold of approval from a mother being “substantially and irredeemably” injured by continuing the pregnancy to “any medical reason.”

Tran has also advocated for the import of foreign-born replacement populations into the United States, specifically in the South and Midwest where, according to Tran, the “native-born population just is not keeping pace with the workforce needs of businesses.”

Tuesday, as Tran’s bill – the House version – moved forward to committee, a busload of illegal aliens arrived at Virginia’s Capitol building amidst Spanish language chants of “licenses yes, promises no!”

Unlike on Lobby Day, when thousands of American citizens turned out in opposition to Democrat-sponsored gun control and confiscation bills, the demonstrators were welcomed at the Capitol with open arms, filling the halls of the General Assembly building.

According to a spokesperson for the group, illegal aliens are demanding driver’s licenses “so we can drive safe and so people won’t get deported back to where they’re from.”

Driving isn’t the only privilege illegal aliens stand to potentially gain if the bills are passed. As has been noted in New York following the passage of the “Green Light Law,” having a driver’s license makes it a heck of a lot easier to register to vote.

In both states, the Department of Motor Vehicles participates in voter registration, and while Virginia currently has stringent voter ID laws, Democrats are fighting to scale them back. In New York, a lack of voter ID laws combined with extending driving privileges to illegal aliens has led to concerns of mass voter fraud.

The same happened in California, where court documents have stated that the Democrat-dominated state government has failed to properly weed-out non-citizens and illegal aliens when registering voters at the DMV.

Although Pennsylvania doesn’t issue driver’s licenses to illegal aliens, the state does issue them to non-citizens and it has been an absolute disaster. Last year, over 11,000 non-citizens were found on voter roles; all of them registered to vote at the DMV.
